Sierra Nevada offers the opportunity to practise trekking and knows the range and diversity of the landscape. You can do anything from hill walking to serious mountaineering.
There are many routes to choose from with varying levels of difficulty and distance.
You could can still find snow up until late June, on the peaks above 3000 metres.
Pico del Veleta, which is 3394 metres high. It is an easy walk. It takes approximately 3.5 hours ascending and 2 hours descending. The landscape remais perfectly intact. Wild animals of every kind exist here. The best time to go is between June and October.
It is also recommend that you bring compass and altimeter as there are no marking on the route.
