Frigiliana Spain
One of the pioneer villages of the second stage of rural tourism in the province, which started in the 60's, is Frigiliana.
Situated at the foot of the Sierra Tejeda-Almijara Natural Park, it overlooks the Mediterranean from the interior, with its cobbled streets and its whitewashed houses.
The care taken by the village is proven by the National Embellishment Award achieved, as well as the conservation of popular crafts and gastronomy, which can be found in every corner of the centre, a maze of beautiful pedestrian streets.
In fact, Frigiliana is one of the interior villages that attracts the most visitors, and the development of rural tourism was fundamental in providing the village with hotels, restaurants and rural houses.

History
The importance of Frigiliana has a long tradition, as it is the passage between the mountains and the coast. Thus, settlements have been found dating back to 3,000 B.C., but the historical period that has left the most mark was the Arab period, from which the Mudejar Neighbourhood still remains, with the purest structure of the province. Frigiliana also has many monuments.
