Mijas Pueblo Spain
Mijas is situated in the mountains, an immense lookout onto the whole Mediterranean. An abrupt landscape that goes from the mountain to the sea, eminently mountainous, through a trail of hills, slopes and undulations. To follow the old road that linked Mijas with Benalmadena is to stroll along a huge vantage point open to the sea between pine trees and ornamental plants of the villas that dot the roadside. The origins of the village date back to remote times, as can be seen by the different remains found both on the hill where the parish church stands and in other nearby places.
The inauguration of the Costa del Sol Racecourse was an important addition to its already attractive and varied offer.
The coast has beautiful beaches, situated between Fuengirola and Marbella, which share the benign climate with the neighbouring towns.

In the old city centre Mijas maintains its typical features and in addition offers an attractive collection of monuments and unique crafts ranging from the preparation of honey to working with silver.
Family traditional crafts are also preserved, such as embroidery, esparto and wicker works.
The village also has two Mudejar style churches and the interesting sanctuary of the Virgen de la Peña, the village patroness.
